Five Months

Dear Calista,

Today you’re five months old! The weather in Washington is slowly improving, and we’ve been able to get out more. It’s been good for the whole family. You had your first trip to a children’s museum and fair this month. You were also able to meet the Easter Bunny.

You’re always smiling, laughing, and cooing. You’re living up to your middle name and always a joy to be around.

You’ve started teething, but Chloe started teething at this time and didn’t have her first two teeth come through until she was nine months old. I’m in no hurry. I love your gummy smile.

You’re officially on the move. You roll after toys on the floor; your sister’s things are especially interesting to you. You also seem to have bypassed a milestone. You don’t like to be contained in activity centers or bouncers. What can I say; you’re a baby on the go.

You don’t like to sleep in your crib. You have a chair you sleep in next to my bed. I should probably do a better job at convincing you to make the transfer, but at least you’re out of Mommy and Daddy’s bed. You’re quite the kicker, and I wasn’t getting any sleep.

You look exactly like Chloe did at this age. I always thought she was the cutest baby in the world, but you’re tied for the gold in that area. Every day I feel the need to pinch myself. I can’t believe I’ve been so blessed to have both of you as my daughters.

Henry Ward Beecher once said, “Children are the hands by which we take hold of heaven.” I couldn’t agree more.

Love Always,
Mommy
